You earn on a per-session basis. Session pricing and payout policies are set by the platform and may change over time. Your availability and performance influence opportunities.

The 30% platform fee covers:

Payouts: Processed via Stripe Connect directly to your linked bank account, typically within 2 business days after session completion. Stripe's standard payout fees apply (0.25%).
Important: Session volume depends entirely on customer demand in your service area, your availability, and your specializations. There are no minimum session guarantees or income projections.

- Valid Red Seal, Provincial (310S/310T), ASE, or manufacturer-specific certification
- Minimum 2 years professional automotive repair experience
- Professional liability insurance (required for workshop or in-person roles)
- Business registration number (if operating as a business)
- Canadian bank account (for direct deposit payouts)
- Stable internet connection (10+ Mbps) and webcam
Preferred (but not required)
- Brand-specific certifications (GM, Toyota, Honda, etc.)
- Hybrid/EV training and certifications
- Dealership or OEM experience
- Multiple service specializations (brakes, engine, transmission)
- Active professional memberships (AIA, CMAT, etc.)

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an employee position?
No. All mechanics on AskAutoDoctor are independent professionals. You are not an employee of the platform. You control your own schedule, accept the sessions you choose, and are responsible for your own tax obligations and any insurance required for your role. See the Terms of Service for full details on the independent professional relationship.
Is income guaranteed?
No. Earnings depend on your availability, customer demand in your service area, current platform pricing, payout policies, and other factors. There are no guarantees of minimum income or session volume. You earn on a per-completed-session basis.
How are payouts handled?
Payouts are processed through our secure payment provider (Stripe Connect). You receive direct deposits to your linked bank account after each completed session, typically within 2 business days. Refer to the Service Provider Agreement for complete payout terms.
What equipment do I need?
You need a computer or tablet with a webcam, stable internet connection (10+ Mbps recommended), and a quiet workspace. Diagnostic tools are helpful but not required for video consultations. You provide your own equipment.
Which regions are currently supported?
AskAutoDoctor currently serves customers across Canada. Mechanics must be located in Canada and have a Canadian bank account for payouts. Regional availability may expand over time.
Can I work for multiple platforms?
Yes. There is no exclusivity requirement. Many mechanics use AskAutoDoctor as supplemental income alongside their day jobs or other platforms.
What about liability?
Virtual-only mechanics are not required to carry individual insurance, but workshop or in-person roles must be covered. You are solely responsible for your professional advice and service outcomes. The platform does not assume liability for service-related claims. See the Terms of Service for complete details.
How many sessions can I expect?
This varies widely based on your availability, specializations, certifications, and customer demand. There are no guarantees. Some mechanics start with a few sessions per week, while others handle more as they build availability and reputation on the platform.
